We’re back with 3 blockbusting cinematic adventures! Laurie & Phil both saw Thor’s 3rd solo outing boasting a slightly new direction from the much-buzzed-about Taika Waititi. Laurie saw emotional true story Breathe with Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy, while Phil caught Happy Death Day in time for Halloween. We also chat a little about the (old) news that The Matrix might be in line for a reboot, and suggest an alternative way forwards for studios looking to make a quick buck from an old idea. Listen to the end for your emails and tweets, and keep them coming to superbaileybros@gmail.com and @superbaileybros – thanks for tuning back in!
WWII romance, comedy and drama ahoy for Laurie in Lone Scherfig’s Their Finest, starring Gemma Arterton and Bill Nighy. Phil tucks into an oddly compelling erotic mystery in Park Chan-wook’s The Handmaiden, and Benedict fills us in on an experimental coming-of-age slash vampire horror flick with Michael O’Shea’s The Transfiguration. WWBW features Karl Urban in Pete Travis’ reboot Dredd, as well as Chris Pine and co. in Justin Lin’s Star Trek Beyond. Take a breath! We also have a special ‘Ask Benedict’ section where we fling a couple of Benedict and/or horror related emails at our horror correspondent, Benedict Seal. Thanks for listening! Keep your emails & tweets coming to superbaileybros@gmail.com and @superbaileybros.
Ricky Gervais hopes we’ll be charmed again by David Brent – how’s Life on the Road? Phil went to see modern teen thriller Nerve with James Franco & Emma Roberts, and Laurie saw Disney’s reboot of classic Pete’s Dragon – and we also have a bit of quiz action with classic Movie Studio Production jingles!
