Loads of films this week! Laurie saw Christian Bale in Hostiles, Christopher Plummer in Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World and Ben Stiller in Brad’s Status, while Phil caught Jessica Chastain in Aaron Sorkin’s directorial debut Molly’s Game, and Jack Black in Richard Linklater’s odd film Bernie. Phew! We’ve also got a thought on slow zooms in film; how you begin to notice little technical details as you watch lots of films, and your emails and tweets towards the end of the show. Send in your thoughts, +1s or -1s and anything else you can think of to email@example.com and @superbaileybros on Twitter – thanks for listening!
Somethin’ strange in your art gallery – who you gonna call? Robert Langdon! Sorry about that. We both saw Inferno, Ron Howard’s 3rd adaptation of Dan Brown’s Robert Langdon series, again starring Tom Hanks & joined this time by Felicity Jones. Laurie also saw Warner Animation Group’s Storks, with the vocal stylings of Andy Samberg, Katie Crown & Kelsey Grammar, and he switched Netflix on for Christopher Guest’s Mascots, with the usual improv suspects in the ensemble cast. Phil also asks us the classic – ‘Which movie hero would you rather go on adventure with?’ – or something like that. Thanks for listening, email or tweet us with your thoughts and plus or minus ones! firstname.lastname@example.org and @superbaileybros on Twitter.
Film-fest time! 4 awesome (we hope!) movies to talk about this week – Laika Studio’s Kubo & The Two Strings has finally made it across the Atlantic, Cannes favourite Hell or High Water with Chris Pine & Ben Foster has also landed, and Laurie managed to squeeze in the Ben-Hur remake with Toby Kebbell alongside Jason Statham in Mechanic: Resurrection too. As if that’s not enough, there’s also our Top 5 Summer Movies & a brief breakdown of how 2016’s movie season has fared at the Box Office. Thanks for listening, emailing & tweeting!
